Aleksotas Funicular

The funicular was built in 1935, and its track is 132.9 m long.
The Aleksotas funicular (Amerikos lietuvių g. 6) is a unique means of transport: it carries passengers up Aleksotas Hill, from which the panorama of the Kaunas centre and old town is seen best. The funicular runs daily 7:00–19:00, with a lunch break 12:00–13:00. Services leave every 10 minutes: the first at 7:00 and the last at 18:50. One bicycle can be carried. The timetable is published by the operator, Kauno autobusai. Time-limited electronic Kaunas public transport tickets are not valid on the funicular, and a cumulative monthly ticket must be validated every time in the validator or in the “Žiogas” app. The operator’s page does not say how to reach the funicular from the train or bus station.
