Tour of the Kaunas Ninth Fort

Museum staff lead tours in Lithuanian, English and Russian; they must be booked in advance.
Booked tours at the Kaunas Ninth Fort Museum (Žemaičių pl. 73) are led Tuesday–Friday in Lithuanian, English and Russian. You must register in advance by e-mail or phone; a group can have up to 25 people, and a single visitor also counts as a group. The short introductory tour “History of the Ninth Fort” lasts a little over an hour: it presents the history and armament of the Kaunas Fortress, the interwar prison, the Soviet NKVD prison and the period of Nazi occupation. Come to the museum ticket office at least 15 minutes before the start. A tour in other languages can be booked with the museum’s accredited guides. (source, checked 2026-10-09)
