A former appliance factory, now a cultural centre with restaurants, cafés, galleries and a flea market.

Aparaaditehas in Tartu, at Kastani 42, is a culture and creativity centre in a former appliance factory, and the name means “appliance factory”. In Soviet times refrigeration equipment was made here, and in the mid-1970s almost 1500 people worked here. Since 2014 the 14 000 m² complex has been converted into a cultural factory. It now houses three restaurants, two cafés, a street-food spot, galleries, event halls, workshops, design shops and the popular Müürilille flea market. In the yard, called Taskupark, concerts, flea markets and an open-air cinema are held in summer, and on the roof there is a sauna and a garden. (source, checked 2026-10-09)
