Birštonas is a small mineral-water resort where you can reach everything on foot. Climb Vytautas Hill and its viewing tower, visit the museums and spend the evening on spa treatments. It suits a quiet weekend in autumn and winter, though walks along the Nemunas are lovely in summer too. Practical tip: some bus services do not mention Birštonas in their names but do stop in the resort, so search by the Vilnius and Birštonas stops and book dinner in advance. The Birštonas and Sacral museums are open almost every day except Monday, so choose another destination for a Monday trip. The bus stop is only a few minutes’ walk from the museum.
