Rokiškis in brief

Rokiškis is in north-eastern Lithuania, near the Latvian border. About 11 600 people live in the town, and the Laukupė flows through it, dammed into Lake Rokiškis (Lithuanian Universal Encyclopedia, in Lithuanian, checked 2026-10-07). Roads from Rokiškis lead to Pandėlys, Juodupė, Obeliai, Anykščiai and Kupiškis. It is worth coming to Rokiškis for the manor: the Rokiškis Regional Museum has operated in the Rokiškis manor palace since 1940.

We do not name a best season, because the sources do not give one. The museum’s exhibitions are open all year, so the town also suits an autumn or winter trip. Only from January to March is the museum closed on Sunday.
