From Kaunas airport you reach the city by city bus 29. The journey to the bus station takes 32–49 min, and a ticket costs €1.50, or €0.70 in the “Žiogas” app. A taxi to the old town costs about €30 by day, according to the airport’s price board. The airport website does not list a train among the ways to get there.

We checked the timetables and prices on 2026-10-06. The December services are taken from the city timetable file, and the bus times to Vilnius from the nearest days on sale.

From Kaunas airport to the city by bus 29

The airport shows one city route: 29 – Airport – Bus station – Railway station (airport page, checked on 2026-10-07).

In the city timetable file (stops.lt, checked on 2026-10-06) departures from the airport look like this:

Day Departures First Last To the bus station To the railway station
Friday, 18 December 30 04:41 00:45 33–49 min 34–52 min
Saturday, 19 December 22 04:45 01:16 32–43 min 33–45 min
Sunday, 20 December 20 05:12 00:46 32–43 min 33–45 min
Friday, 25 December (holiday) 20 05:12 00:46 32–43 min 33–45 min

The last service leaves after midnight. At weekends and on 25 December the file shows the Sunday pattern: the gap between services is about an hour, and sometimes up to 2 h 19 min. On a working day the gaps are shorter, about 40 min.

Tickets. A bus ticket from the driver, or at the validator with a contactless card, costs €1.50 (with no right to change). In the “Žiogas” app a single ticket costs €0.70 and allows one free change within 30 min (KVT prices, checked on 2026-10-06). The Kauno kortelė e-ticket is sold at the Narvesen terminal.

Which stop to choose. For the city centre get off at the “Gedimino g.” or Autobusų stotis stop. For the train, ride to the terminus Geležinkelio stotis. You will find an exact plan on the stops.lt page.

Over the holidays, check the timetable the day before your flight. On 25 December the city bus file shows the Sunday pattern; we confirmed the services only from that file, not from the operator.
