In short: bus 22 runs from Riga airport to the city, and at night the N22 “Centre–airport” runs once an hour. A ticket from the driver costs €1.81 and is sold only for a bank card. A 90-minute ticket bought in advance costs €1.50 (Rīgas satiksme, checked on 2026-10-07).

Bus 22

Route 22 is the only Rīgas satiksme route on which you can buy a ticket from the driver. You can pay only by bank card, and the ticket costs €1.81. On this route tickets bought in advance are also valid, and discounts apply.

Rīgas satiksme gives the airport stop and the timetable on its guests’ page, in the section “Transport from: Riga airport” (for guests). The timetable app would not open for us then, so we do not write the times of the first and last service, the daytime interval or the journey time. Check them yourself before your flight.

The night bus N22

The official Rīgas satiksme page says that at night the N22 “Centre–airport” bus runs to and from the airport, once an hour. We found no exact night times. If you land after midnight, look at the timetable in advance and have a backup plan.

Cheaper tickets: 90 minutes and the e-ticket

One 90-minute ticket costs €1.50, two €3.00 and ten €15.00. It lets you ride any Rīgas satiksme tram, trolleybus or bus. Each time you board a new vehicle, you must register the ticket. The last registration of the ticket is possible in the 89th minute after the first, and the ticket is valid to your stop (time ticket).

Tickets are loaded onto a personal, non-personal or yellow e-ticket, and they also work in the “code ticket” app on your phone. For a passenger who already has a ticket, bus 22 costs €0.31 less than a ticket from the driver.

In addition, Rīgas satiksme sells 24-hour, 3-day and 5-day tickets. We do not give their prices here, because we did not read their page.

Taxis and distance

The airport is about 10 km from the centre: by the OpenStreetMap route it is about 9.8 km from the terminal to the Freedom Monument and about 15 min without traffic. This is our calculation, not an official source (route). We found no taxi prices in official sources, so we do not write them.

The Riga airport website

The airport website riga-airport.com would not open for us today: it is protected against bots. So we give no information here about where to buy tickets in the terminal, the left-luggage office or the taxi rank.

How to choose

  • Cheapest: buy a 90-minute ticket in advance, €1.50.

We described the Riga stations in the guide Riga bus and railway stations, and what to do in the city in the weekend in Riga guide and on the Riga page.
