Ad. On some links we earn a commission if you book. The price does not change for you. How we earn (in Lithuanian)

In short: with an Interrail or Eurail pass, a 100% discount applies on LTG Link trains, but on many routes you must reserve a seat. A reservation in Lithuania costs €3 or €5, and Vilnius–Riga and Vilnius–Kraków €5 each (LTG Link, checked on 2026-10-09). Interrail sells the passes, so we take prices here only from its pages.

Lithuania: the discount and the reservation fee

The LTG Link page says that the 100% discount applies to those travelling on all local and international routes in the European Union who present a valid pass. Tickets are sold on the website, in the app, at ticket offices and on the trains by the travel companions. A ticket received with the discount is valid only together with the pass.

A seat must be reserved on these routes and in these classes (amounts as LTG Link gives them):

Route Class Reservation
Vilnius–Kaunas 1 €3
Vilnius–Klaipėda 1, 2 and 3 €3
Vilnius–Mockava 1 €3
Vilnius–Trakai 1 €3
Vilnius–Šiauliai 2 and 3 €3
Kaunas–Šiauliai 2 €3
Vilnius–Riga 1 and 2 €5
Vilnius–Kraków 2 €5

The reservation fee is not refundable. The tickets themselves can be changed or returned on the website or in the app before the train departs.

What this looks like on trips

To Kaunas by train you only need to buy a 1st class reservation, and for 2nd class this list has no extra fee. For Riga and Kraków you will find prices and times in our guides Vilnius to Riga by train and Vilnius to Kraków by train (in Lithuanian). How to buy a train ticket in general we explain in the ticket guide, and other discounts in the LTG Link discounts article (in Lithuanian).

The Interrail page for Lithuania reminds you that reservations are compulsory on international and some local trains, and that they must be bought through LTG Link. The summer “Pajūrio ekspresas” to Nida and Palanga is connected by bus from Klaipėda (Interrail, checked on 2026-10-07).

Latvia

The Interrail page (Interrail, checked on 2026-10-07) says:

  • Riga–Jelgava–Šiauliai–Vilnius: reservations are compulsory and are bought through LTG Link.
  • Riga–Daugavpils and Riga–Rēzekne: once a day a train with a comfort class runs for €1.40; a reservation is recommended.
  • Riga Central station has left-luggage offices, and the service centre (Stacijas laukums 2) is open daily 7:00–19:00.
  • Riga–Jūrmala takes about 30 min, and trains run every 30 min.

More about local trains in the guide to trains in Latvia and Estonia (in Lithuanian).

Estonia

The Interrail page for Estonia gives average journey times from Tallinn: Tartu 2 h 5 min, Narva 2 h 20 min, Valga 3 h 20 min. We found no reservation rules for Estonia in its text, so we do not write them. Before the journey check the Interrail and Elron help pages (Interrail, checked on 2026-10-07).

What the pass costs

The Interrail country pages give “from” prices:

  • the Latvia one-country pass – €50;
  • Lithuania – €58;
  • Estonia – €91;
  • the Global Pass, which also suits these countries and up to 32 others – €212.

You will see the exact price on the purchase page once you have chosen a pass.

Compare the pass with ticket prices: for example, a Vilnius–Kaunas 2nd class ticket in the LTG Link search costs from €4.30 with the LTG Link 50% discount on local routes (terms, checked on 2026-10-09). More in Vilnius to Kaunas by bus or train.

What to do next

Plan the trip with the Riga and Tallinn pages, and look for trips from Vilnius in the list (in Lithuanian).
