Vilnius to Klaipėda by train or bus 2026

In short: on the days we checked, the bus was faster and the train sometimes cheaper. The fastest bus from Vilnius to Klaipėda took 3 h 45 min, the fastest train 4 h 17 min. On 30 October there were 16 buses, and there were 5 trains on 4 November and 6 on 6 November. The cheapest train ticket on Friday, 6 November, costs €7.35. The cheapest FlixBus ticket on Friday, 30 October, cost €28. The train prices include the LTG Link 50% discount on local routes, valid for journeys from 9 October to 31 December (terms, checked on 2026-10-09). We checked the train data on 2026-10-26, the bus data on 2026-10-07.

How long the journey takes

By train. An LTG Link search for Wednesday, 4 November, showed 5 direct services from Vilnius: 06:38, 10:54, 13:03, 17:17 and 18:48. The fastest, the 10:54 service, arrives at 15:11 (4 h 17 min); the others take 4 h 28 min–4 h 43 min. On Friday, 6 November, there is also a 05:20 service: 4 h 29 min.

By bus. On 28 and 30 October FlixBus showed 10 direct services on each day, the first leaving at 06:00 and the last at 23:00. Most take 3 h 45 min–4 h 5 min. Two services are longer: the 06:40 via Kaunas takes 5 h 45 min, and the 23:00 night service 4 h 50 min. In the national timetable data (visimarsrutai.lt, checked on 2026-10-08) there were 16 direct services on 30 October, and the longest (12:00, M-352) takes 6 h 25 min.

We made the FlixBus search for two adults, so in the table we wrote half of the amount shown. The FlixBus service fee is not included in the amounts. The LTG Link prices are per adult.

On Friday the prices are different:

• Train, 6 November. The 05:20 service in 2nd class costs €13.40, and the 06:38 service €11 (3rd class €7.35). On the 13:03 service 3rd class also costs €7.35.
• FlixBus, 30 October. €28–32.20 per person. The cheapest are the 16:45 and 18:30 services.
• National timetable data, 30 October. Base fare per person: €19 (M-428 services at 10:35, 12:40 and 16:00), €24–25 for other services; for some services there is no price in the data.

When to choose the bus

• Faster and more often. 16 services a day let you leave almost at any time. On 6 November there are no trains between 06:38 and 10:54, and after 10:54 only three.
• Late in the evening. The last daytime bus left at 18:30 and arrived at 22:30. The 23:00 night service reaches Klaipėda at 03:50. The last train on 6 November arrives at 23:23.

When to choose the train

• The cheapest ticket. On the slower 13:03 connection on 4 and 6 November, 3rd class costs €7.35. On Friday’s 06:38 service a third-class ticket costs the same.
• The station in town. The train arrives at Klaipėda railway station, the bus at the bus station. In Vilnius both stations stand side by side: read about this in the guide to Vilnius stations.
